The first step in troubleshooting if you get Error PS038: When Paychecks Get Stuck as "Online to Send," is to update QuickBooks Payroll. Follow the steps as provided below:
Method 1: Upgrading the QuickBooks Desktop and Tax Table in Payroll
Step 1: Run QB as Administrator check for an update
Close the QuickBooks program and the Company file.
To run as administrator, perform a right-click on the QuickBooks Desktop icon and then choose that option.
To update QuickBooks Desktop, click the "Help" menu and choose that option.
Select the "Mark All" button under the "Options" tab, and then click "Save."
Select the "Reset Update" option under the "Update Now" menu.
Select "Get Updates" from the menu.
Step 2: After this, you should download the latest tax table in QuickBooks Payroll. The steps are as follows:
Select "Employees" from the menu.
Select the "Download Entire Update" checkbox after choosing the "Get Payroll Updates" option.
Now select the "Download Latest Update" link.
You have now downloaded and installed the most recent QuickBooks Desktop update. Additionally, you have the most recent tax table for QuickBooks Payroll downloaded. Now, adhere to the instructions below:
Select the 'My Payroll Service' option after clicking on the 'Employees' option.
Press the ‘Send Usage Data’ option and the ‘Send Payroll Data’ option.
If the data is sent successfully, you should be free of the QuickBooks update error PS038. If the error persists, then follow the next method.
Method 2: Fixing the blocked paychecks in Payroll
- Select "Edit" and then "Find," and then click "OK."
- Tap the "Advanced" tab.
- Select the "Detail Level" option from the "Filter" list by clicking on it in the "Choose Filter" section.
- Choose "Summary Only" from the menu.
- Navigate to the "Choose Filter" area.
- Choose the "Online Status" option from the "Filter" list by clicking on it.
- Select the "Online to Send" link.
- Click "Find" to see whether a paycheck has been sent or, in other words, whether it is still pending.
- To fix the mistake, repeat the "Verify and Rebuild" data activity.
Method 3: Fix QuickBooks PS038 with verify and rebuild data tool
- Open the QuickBooks desktop program first.
- Navigate to the file, utilities, and check the data now.
- Close any open windows and any background programs that are active.
- Click OK if QuickBooks is unable to identify any issues with your data.
- After that, proceed to the file, utilities, and data rebuild.
- By selecting OK and saving, a backup will be made.
- After letting the rebuild do its work, select View Results.
