Optimizing images to make website load faster!
The loading time of webpage can have a major impact on the performance of your website. As a webpage consists of many elements, texts, images, videos, so, each element takes up space and affects the load time of the website.
In this post, I will talk about optimizing images for a faster loading and increasing the speed of website.
Below are some points which you should consider for optimizing images on your site:
1) Image Format- Having images in the right format i.e. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, etc. impacts the SEO performance. JPG images are small in size but low in quality too. PNG images are of high quality but of high file size, whereas images in WebP format (which is a newer format) are high quality but small file size.
So, consider using the best format for your images to make sure that they are of high quality and small size.
2) Image CDN, caching, optimization- Use of CDN for images can have a good impact on optimization, although CDN’s are of freemium or paid type but if you don’t have a very large website with 100’s of pages you can consider using the freemium version and save your loading time.
3) Lazy loading- Use lazy loading for images on the webpage except for “Above the fold” images. Lazy loading only loads the images on a webpage when the user reaches till that part, saving time for other elements to load earlier.
4) Image Alt Text- Use Alt text for all of your images, this not only gives the search engine the context of your images also but helps visually impaired people to understand the image when they are on the webpage.
Moreover, there are a lot more factors contributing for webpage speed. You can visit SBA Services for more info about how to optimize your website and get the best results for your marketing efforts.
