Other than the title on the cover, the new named game will also lack any official reference on the World Cup, the quadrennial international competition run by FIFA. EA has partnered with Madden 23 Coins FIFA to produce FIFA World Cup-branded FIFA World Cup titles every four years starting in 1998 and continuing through 2014. The company also added a separate World Cup mode to its highly-priced Ultimate Team digital card game for FIFA 14. This partnership was later expanded to include the full World Cup update in FIFA 18.

Reports suggest FIFA 23--which is expected to be released in the coming months as EA's final game with the FIFA license--will expand to include the World Cup mode and include the Women's World Cup for the first time in the history of the franchise. "Our final FIFA product will also include more game modes, features, teams, leagues, players, and competitions than any previous edition," EA said in a statement.

The EA split with FIFA isn't exactly a surprise. The giant gaming publisher publicly announced it would be "reviewing our Naming Rights Agreement with FIFA" in October, amid reports of conflict over the exclusivity of its licenses and costs for licensing. The February report also suggested that Wilson informed EA workers that the FIFA license had "precluded our possibility extend into areas players desire" for gameplay.

Even the specific EA Sports FC branding isn't an unwelcome surprise. The term showed up in trademark filing last year, and VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb confirmed the name during a chat in March in a chat with Giant Bomb.

The year before, The New York Times published an article that stated that FIFA demanded EA to raise the $150 million the publisher paid annually for the rights to Madden 23 Coins Cheap the brand name. As of now, EA was reportedly beginning to question the worth the FIFA name would bring to its well-known game franchise.
