Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is becoming more popular by the day as a supplement and medicine. But what exactly is CBD oil, and how can it help you?

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in cannabis plants that has been shown to have medical benefits. It’s thought to be one of over 100 compounds called cannabinoids that are present in cannabis plants, but it’s the most common one and the one that has been most studied.

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the plant matter, then diluting this with a carrier substance like coconut oil or hemp seed oil. You can also ingest CBD in capsule form or even apply it topically to your skin for localized relief.

CBD oil is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. CBD oil is similar to other types of cannabinoid oils in that it interacts with our endocannabinoid system (ECS), a large network of nerves and receptors that regulate pain, mood, memory, sleep and immune function.

In addition to helping with physical pain, CBD can help with mental health issues like anxiety and depression. Some studies have found that CBD can help with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There are also studies showing that CBD can help people who have schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

CBD oil does not contain THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana (cannabis). It does contain small amounts of other cannabinoids like CBG and CBN. These are non-psychoactive cannabinoids that have different effects than THC, but they are still very powerful compounds that interact with our ECS system.

How does CBD work?

The human body produces its own cannabinoids naturally, known as endocannabinoids. In fact, every mammal has an endocannabinoid system — we just don’t know what all it does yet! The endocannabinoid system runs throughout our bodies, from our brains down to our bowels, affecting everything from moods to immune responses and even our metabolism . The endocannabinoid system connects all of these parts together by producing its own chemicals

CBD oil is a popular natural remedy used for a wide range of health conditions.

The oil comes from the cannabis plant and contains a chemical called cannabidiol (CBD). It's also known as hemp oil, and it's legal in the United States as long as it has less than 0.3 percent tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of marijuana responsible for its high.

There are plenty of CBD products on the market, including oils, tinctures, balms and edibles.

CBD can be used to relieve pain and inflammation, reduce anxiety or reduce stress and promote sleep. The benefits have been shown to be effective in treating a wide variety of conditions, including arthritis, diabetes, PTSD and more — but there's still so much more to learn about how CBD works in the body.
