Keeping up with the times in a popular tourist destination can be challenging. This is especially true in Aspen, Colorado, which sees a number of exciting new openings each year, including restaurants, bars, and boutiques, as well as the most fashionable visitors from all over the country. Therefore, it may come as a bit of a surprise to learn that the hotel that is at the forefront of the trendiest events that take place in the ritzy mountain town during each season is housed in one of its oldest buildings.

The Hotel Jerome, now part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, first opened its doors in 1889, when Aspen was just a freshly created mining town. Since then, the hotel has been linked with both the history of the area and the most exciting events of the present day dordle. In the 1970s, it was likely that you might run into the illustrious writer and author Hunter S. Thompson at the bar; today, it is more likely that you will run into Cameron Diaz or Bill Murray.

From the J-Bar to the Prospect restaurant to the 99 rooms and suites, the hotel's style is vintage Western, but with the same upmarket flair that makes it conceivable for Kemo Sabe, which is located nearby, to charge $825 for a pair of cowboy boots and attract a queue out the door. And while winter is the best season to get to know the A-listers of the après ski scene, the summer has its own unique appeal that makes it even more intriguing.

The Aspen Food Wine Classic is a gastronomic competition that takes place every year and features participation from some of the most renowned chefs and sommeliers in the world. During the month of June, Hotel Jerome will be providing guests and locals with an Epicurean Passport, which will grant them exclusive access to a variety of events. Some of these events include a Casa Dragones Cocktail and Caviar Lounge, a Codigo After-Hours Speakeasy at Felix Roasting Co., and a Bartender Bash at Bad Harriet, the hotel's stylish new speakeasy. The underground cocktail lounge located within the historic Aspen Times building located next door has recently introduced a new cocktail menu that is inspired by influential women throughout history. This lounge will be an absolute must-visit location not only during the event but also throughout the entire year. It was named after the wife of the original developer of the Hotel Jerome, Jerome B. Wheeler, and it serves cocktails and small snacks either a la carte or as part of a multi-course prix-fixe event called The Soiree, which costs $145 per person.
